Recently we were lucky enough to be taken to a very lovely, very expensive restaurant that had this $195 cup of tea listed on the dessert menu. Who knew?! Although I have always wanted to be one who drank tea, it never much did anything for me. But a $195 cup of tea – now that must be something! And from 1949!
Obviously we at Send A Buddha would never spend $195 on a cup of tea, but it got us thinking. Is it a great world that people have an opportunity to taste something so old and maybe wonderful? Or is there something wrong with a world where people can afford and would spend that on a fleeting taste? I am not so sure of the answer really.
At first I thought it was ridiculous, and to be honest I still do, but think of that great journey those tea leaves must have gone on to end up in a Chicago restaurant 63 year later. Isn’t that worth something?
